Bakoena’s Fashion Jewellery is a proudly South African jewellery brand founded by Tshepo Makhetha Bakoena, a qualified jewellery designer and manufacturer. Established while Tshepo was studying for a National Diploma in Jewellery Design and Manufacture at the Durban University of Technology, the business combines traditional African aesthetics with contemporary fashion jewellery.
The company is recognised for creating elegant woven and heritage-inspired jewellery that celebrates African culture while appealing to modern consumers.
MEET THE EXHIBITOR
Tshepo Makhetha, with Lesego Lekgoe (Sales), has strengthened his technical expertise through industry experience at Pneuma Jewellers and Jack Friedman Jewellers, specialising in jewellery manufacturing and diamond setting. He also completed the Jewellery Council of South Africa Silver Mentorship Programme, where he achieved third place for outstanding performance.
Today, Bakoena’s Fashion Jewellery continues to grow through collaborations with fashion designers and participation in exhibitions that showcase South African craftsmanship. The business focuses on producing unique handcrafted collections that incorporate precious metals and gemstones into culturally inspired designs.
